Hunter Valley Retreat Centre

Venue & Accommodation

Set among the natural beauty of the Hunter Valley, the retreat centre provides a beautiful and comfortable setting for families to step away from the everyday and spend the weekend together. The venue offers comfortable, semi-luxury style accommodation alongside dedicated spaces for our retreat activities, gatherings and family experiences.

Families may be accommodated together within shared accommodation arrangements, with the exact rooming configuration dependent on availability. Some families may be accommodated at nearby hotels/Airbnbs approximately 15โ€“20 minutes from the main retreat venue, with the full retreat program taking place together at the main venue regardless of where you stay overnight.

BhaktiRoots is a family retreat for Gurukul children aged 5โ€“13 and their parents or guardians - the whole family is welcome.

Core Program [Ages 5โ€“13]

Main focus group, with dedicated activities and full program participation.

Toddlers [Ages 0โ€“4]

Must be supervised by parents at all times. No dedicated program, though a supervised play corner may be set up. Free sharing a parent's bed; child rate applies for a separate bed.

Youth [Ages 14+]

Welcome to join in or volunteer with our youth team - register as an Adult participant.

Parents

Join bonding sessions, family activities and seminars, and build sangha with other families.

๐ŸŒฟProgram & Activities

BhaktiRoots follows a full Krishna-conscious temple program across the weekend - including Guru Puja, mangala aarti and other aartis, kirtans, dedicated sessions for kids and parents, and a special Saturday night program. The full agenda will be shared closer to the retreat.

Check-in begins 8:45am Saturday - we encourage families to arrive on time so the program can start smoothly for everyone. The retreat concludes Sunday at 3:30pm.

โœจWhat does the weekend involve?

This year's theme, Growing Under the Shelter of Srila Prabhupada, runs through a weekend of kirtan, children's and family activities, seva, learning and devotee association - with plenty of time for parents and children to connect with other families.

๐ŸกHow does accommodation work?

Families will be accommodated together in comfortable, semi-luxury style accommodation. Depending on availability, accommodation may be arranged across shared properties where multiple BhaktiRoots families stay together and share common areas and facilities.

Some families may be accommodated at nearby hotels or Airbnbs approximately 15โ€“20 minutes from the main retreat venue. Accommodation will be allocated in registration order, subject to availability and family requirements.

Regardless of where families stay overnight, the full retreat program will take place together at the main venue, with accommodation primarily serving as a comfortable place to rest and recharge between the day's activities.

๐ŸŽWhat's included in the registration fee?

Your registration includes a night of family accommodation, five opulent prasadam meals, a complimentary gift for every attendee and the full retreat program.

๐Ÿฝ๏ธAre meals included, and can dietary needs be catered for?

Yes - five opulent prasadam meals are included, prepared by the ISKCON West Sydney Head Chef team. All meals are vegetarian, sattvic and onion/garlic-free, made according to Vaishnava principles. Please let us know any dietary requirements or allergies during registration.

๐Ÿ’›What if my child is outside the 5โ€“13 age range or has special requirements?

We consider these on a case-by-case basis - please join our waitlist or contact the BhaktiRoots team to discuss your circumstances. Dietary, medical and accessibility requirements are collected during registration.

  • 24/7 emergency contact team

Medical Care

  • Secure medication storage and administration process
  • Parent hand-in at check-in, logged doses, returned at check-out
  • Severe allergies or special care needs assessed before the event
  • Direct parent consultation for any medical concerns

Health Policy

Please do not attend if unwell with contagious symptoms. A sensible illness/refund/credit policy applies.

๐Ÿ’ณWhat is the cancellation/refund policy?

A 24-hour change-of-mind refund is available from the time of purchase. After this period, refunds are not available due to logistical requirements.
